8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day all across the globe. To mark this day, various activities related with Women’s Right, Health, Empowerment etc are organized and implemented by different organizations. Bajra Samaj Nepal (BSN) also celebrated this day through offering health camp to improve the health condition of rural women’s. As an organization registered in Ramechhap District, the health camps were organized in different rural areas of Ramechhap. BSN annually organizes health camp for women each year to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day.

Most of the women in rural areas do not have easy access to the health checkup. Availability of doctors and trained health practitioners are very rear. Due to cultural barriers and low literacy rate, issues related with Cervical screening and health checkups are rarely discussed. Hence, in order to increase the discussion on this issue and increase awareness about the importance on regular health checkup, A 3 Day’s Cervical Cancer Screening (VIA) Camp from 7th to 9th March 2019 was organized by BSN. The camp was successfully organized through the technical support of Tamakoshi Cooperative Hospital of Manthali, and Ramechhap District Hospital. The major objective of the camp was to provide health facilities for the women’s who are deprived from the access to the health facility in village.
A total of 332 women’s were offered with the service of health check organized in three different locations of eastern Ramechhap. The areas were mainly, Women’s mainly from Rampur, Dharapani and Gothgaon were benefited through the health camp. The support from Dr. Suman (Medical Director, Tamakoshi Community Hospital), Mahila Swasthya Swayamsebika are highly appreciated towards successfully organizing the health camp. BSN is very happy and proud to provide the service to the women of Ramechhap District.
