BSN is implementing the project “Promoting Menstrual Hygiene Education and Reusable Sanitary Napkin” in Ramechhap Municipality of Ramechhap district, Nepal. The project will be implemented in 13 secondary schools of Ramechhap Municipality and various women groups formed in different wards of municipality.
The project goal is to improve and uplift the menstrual hygiene status of adolescents girls and women in the area. The primary target beneficiaries are adolescent girls, studying in secondary schools and women’s affiliated with various women groups in different wards.
The project will also aware and mobilize various stakeholders at the community and district level on menstrual hygiene management and to end ill practices and stigma against menstruation. The project will be carried out for a year from June 2019 to May 2020.
BSN is thankful towards our German Donor Organization – “Stiftung Soziale und Ökologische Zukunft (Foundation Social and Ecological Future)” for supporting us to implement this project in the schools and community of Ramechhap Municipality. We believe that the implementation of this project will create a long-lasting impact on our community through bringing educational, social and behavioral changes. In order to do so, the project will implement the following major activities in the community;
- Training of Trainers (TOT) on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM)
- Orientation Camp on the reusable sanitary napkin
- Individual Counseling for adolescent girls and women on MHM
- Survey on the effectiveness of reusable sanitary napkin
- Entrepreneurship and Training on reusable sanitary napkin/pad making
- Stakeholders Interaction
- Documentation and dissemination of best practices, learning, and stories
With the successful completion of the project, we expected to achieve increased awareness on MHM, regular protection and use of the reusable sanitary napkin, safe environment for girls and women to openly speak and share about their menstruation in the house, school, and community. At the organization level, BSN will document and institutionalize lesson learned, best practices and approaches that will be helpful for future program and project design.
